Dear Boys,
You’ve lost her.
And she’s not coming back.
If you want her, you’ll have to read and understand this 'letter'. Seek out its true meaning and then maybe, just maybe you’ll understand where you went wrong and how you messed up.
You better be along for the ride or you for sure will get left behind.
That's the first thing I have to say.
Second thing, she’s lost to the old times and the ways things used to be when it came to falling in love and as you continue to read on, you’ll see exactly why she’s in yearning for them.
But before jumping too ahead, I will continue on more about myself to say…
I'm not an easy person to deal with, I'm complicated, and confusing all at once.
A beautiful catastrophe I must say.
I’m not quite sure if having such different perspectives on life is a great thing, but it definitely allows me to fall in love with any era where things were right and respectful.
And that’s where you all come in.
High School and modern dating don't teach you that opening doors, asking her parents first, and not kissing, at first sight, is how it should all be.
And while I wasn’t raised in the nineteenth century, I know that if love is going to be ever lasting, it needs to start out that way.
I’m different because I choose to be and I wouldn’t want to be any other way. I do my best to be my own self even though it’s easy to start acting like someone else.
And I can promise you that nobody else will compare to the memories we'll have together and laughs that will be shared.
If you want the girl of your dreams, then you should start acting like the gentleman she needs because she deserves nothing less.
And nothing less, she learned, is what she is fully entitled to.
So let me continue on with some things you may already know about her, but haven’t given much thought to really thinking about what they all mean…
She loves exploring and late night adventures. They bring her back to childhood and a time that will never again be seen on Earth when days were marked at an end to come home with the signals of street lights but stars beckoning her existence to stay out in the night longer.
Yellow is her favorite color because it symbolizes warmth and friendless and she screams for joy at the thought of making somebody else laugh.
Her hair is a dyed natural ombre from all the time she spends outside in the sun because she never wants to waste a second not enjoying life.
She loves to be different in any way possible and wants, actually needs you to be too, for she fears everyone in this world is dying out and losing who they are in everything.
So, the times of the past have stolen her away and she needs you to bring them back.
She needs you to be old fashioned because this world is ever-changing and the true traditions of love and life are getting lost in it.
Write her letters, and as you grow with her, write her ones about everything. Write one about the time you first met and write one about the time she almost let you have that first kiss.
Write one about the way she looked in that yellow dress.
At sunset.
When you knew that moment was just as magical as she was to you.
Open doors, pull out her chair, show her that you don’t let money rule your life and you’d stay out in the pouring rain with her just to jump around in puddles.
Be different, like she is, because she’s begging to have somebody back just like that.
And that’s all she needs.
Don’t be the boy who stole her heart at first glance, but does over and over again.
Maybe then, and only then, will you understand her.
Maybe you’ll get lost in her world like she wishes to in yours.
But don’t push her away.
Cause once you do, she’s never coming back.
Sincerely,
Yours Truly
