10 Aspects Of Sophomore Slump: Described By "Supernatural"

Sophomore slump. If you're still a freshman who thinks, "This whole college thing is easy," you are sadly mistaken. Get ready to feel an all-time low of motivation, lower than even your senior year of high school. Sophomore year of college is kind of a slap in the face, so to speak. Suddenly, your classes are harder, you feel like you have no time to get any of your assignments done, and academically (although you may not be failing) it still seems like it is hard to live up to your freshman year grades. I'm dragging myself through the tail-end of my sophomore year, and yes, the struggle is real. And since I have spent a lot of time watching re-runs of "Supernatural" on TV these past few weeks, I thought why not explain the sophomore slump using the emotions of Sam and Dean Winchester.

1. When someone asks you how your sophomore year of college is going.

I think my under-eye circles say it all. It's hard to go to school, go to work and keep up with all the good T.V. shows.

2. You have so much homework, but such a small amount of motivation to do it... so you prefer to sit and cry about it instead of actually doing it.

3. When your professor says, "There are some of you who could have done better on this quiz."

Hey, just say my name sir, there are no secrets in college.

4. "How's the studying coming along?"

Studying -- yeah -- I have actually been eating ice cream and watching TV for the past two hours.

5. When the smart kid next to you did poorly on the last test, only then do you realize how screwed you are.

Cue the weekly panic attack.

6. When it's time to get up for your 8 a.m. class, but you value sleep so much more than macroeconomics.

7. "Is that really what you're eating for dinner?"

Yes, its called comfort food thank you very much.

8. When you get bombarded with the series of dreaded questions.

"Wow you're half way through college! What's your graduation date? Are you going into any Graduate programs? What are you doing after college? When are you getting married." I don't know, please stop asking me all these hard questions.

9. And just when you start to think you just can't take it anymore...

10. You remember that potential employers value you more if you have a degree, so you might as well put your nose to the grindstone and be positive about it.

You do have all of graduate school to lose your mind, after all. You can't go crazy this early in the game.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
