A few weeks ago, I was browsing the Internet and I came across something really interesting. Once in a while when I'm looking for something to play, I try my luck at fan games. Sonic fan games are pretty good. I've enjoyed games like "Sonic Before the Sequel" and "Sonic Axiom." But I wanted to see if fans were working on a 3D title, and they were. I came across a game called "Sonic World."
It's fully 3D, and the game play style is a mix between "Sonic Heroes" and the "Sonic Adventure" games. The fans have included several characters. There are the more common characters like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, but characters from older "Sonic" games are also playable. It includes characters that haven't been featured in any main "Sonic" titles since well over 20 years ago. Some of these lesser known characters are Mighty the Armadillo, Ray the Squirrel, and Fang the Sniper, or as American fans might know him Nack the Weasel. I was busting a gut to play this game. I liked the way it looked; the character model looks very legitimate. If I didn't know that it's a fan game, it could almost pass for an official "Sonic" game made by Sega. I also liked the sense of speed I got when watching the gameplay; the mach speed levels looked impressive and fun. But one element that really got me interested was something fans have been asking Sega to do for years; they put in a Chao Garden. Finally, after years of waiting to experience a new Chao Garden, I can once again have the experience that made "Sonic Adventure 1" and "Sonic Adventure 2" so great. It's very similar to the past gardens. I can raise them, use them to compete in races, and level up their abilities any way I choose. Leave it to a group of fans to to something Sega won't. Sega still has not put any more Chao Gardens in their recent games, despite fans asking them for years. It may be a fan made Chao Garden, but it's wonderful. I love this game. It's not complete yet; there are still future releases to come. The development team wants to add more remastered levels from past games, as well as custom levels. They also want to add more characters. I'm really looking forward to future releases. I'm really excited to see what characters they'll choose, as well as the new levels. If Sega were to gain word of this, it might be wise for them to hire the people who made this game. They could really use the help to make good "Sonic" games. For the last few years, all I've wanted is a good "Sonic" game. I'm not interested in new gameplay styles or gimmicks, I just want Sonic. I just want a game with good level design and to blast through levels insanely fast. And that's exactly what I got with this game. There are no useless gimmicks to distract me from the overall experience. It's just a good old fashioned "Sonic" game; racing through levels and playing as other characters.
So if there are any "Sonic" fans that read this and are looking for a game that will give them a good experience, download "Sonic World" on your PC and give it a go.
