The time is right around the corner: the glorious moment of finally returning to our beloved UNC. In just a few short weeks, I will be back in the land of Carolina Blue and Tar Heel pride and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had Carolina on my mind more often recently and I have been listening to certain songs, which make my nostalgia for this University that much greater. Here are a list of some of the best songs to get yourself into that Carolina state of mind.
"Carolina Can"- Chase Rice
There’s something about this Carolina alum that highlights all the good things UNC has to offer. Add the fact he shot parts of his video around campus and you have a spine-shivering wave of nostalgia.
"Carolina in My Mind"- James Taylor
A classic and familiar tune on campus that needs no explanation as to why it’s one of the greatest songs of all time.
"Wagon Wheel"- Old Crow Medicine Show (or Darius Rucker's remake. Both are acceptable)
The amount of times I’ve belted out this song, in public and private, is uncountable. It always leaves me yearning for the land of the pines.
"Carolina Girls"- General Johnson and the Chairman of the Board
Carolina Girls? The best in the world.
"Carolina Girl"- Bobby Kendall
This up-and-coming artist manages to capture the fun and excitement of Chapel Hill in this country song. I also can't help but sing-shout the line "She's a Tar Heel, she's an angel," every time.
"Carolina"- Eric Church
Country music loves North Carolina and I always feel Carolina calling me home whenever I listen to this song.
"Carolina in the Morning"- Al Jolson
This 1947 classic shows that the love for Carolina has been around for generations. Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina, indeed.
"Carolina"- Corey Smith
This breezy tune embodies all the adventure and memories Carolina has to offer.
As always, it’s a GDTBATH and GTHD!
