While it may seem like everyone that you know has their life together, it's usually not true. More often than not, most people have no idea what they are doing with their lives, but are just really good at looking like they have it all together. It's really easy to fake it until you make it, and honestly, that's not always a bad thing to do. While you're young, it's okay not to have a solid plan. It's okay to have a plan that changes. It's okay to make mistakes and completely change the course that your life was on. College and young-adulthood is about finding yourself. If that means realizing that you need to change your major, go for it. If that means you need to take a year for travel, do it.
Do not let people who are not living your life tell you what you can and cannot do. The only person you need to listen to is inside of you. If you feel like you aren't on the right track anymore, listen to your voice and find a new path. If you're unhappy and need a change, find something that does make you happy and brings joy to your life. Stop telling yourself that you need a solid plan and that you need to have it all together all of the time. You don't. Life has a weird way of pushing us in the direction we are supposed to go. Sometimes, when it seems like all bad things are happening, they are really just setting you up to be the person you were meant to become and pushing you in the direction you need to be going.
I've changed my major four times in college and I'm still not even sure what exactly I want to be doing with my life. I went from dreaming about owning my own dance studio, to majoring in math, to convincing myself I wanted to work in PR, to believing I wanted to work in marketing. Now, I'm an English major and am on the track towards working in the publishing field. But after interning in that field for a year, I've learned that I'm not sure it's something I want to do for the rest of my life. I'm now considering applying to graduate school to pursue a career in High Education Advisement, another lifelong dream. It's stressful to find out you don't love what you thought you would, and it's scary as hell. But guess what? Life isn't over if you don't find a job right out of college. Life isn't over if your plan ends up changing. You will make it through and you will find peace if you allow yourself to embrace the changes that happen in your life.
At the end of the day, don't keep doing things that make you unhappy. Don't be afraid to change your major if your dream dies. Don't be afraid to move to a new city. Don't be afraid to live your life the way YOU want. Don't listen to anyone's voice but yours when it comes to making decisions about your future. The only place that will get you is a life of looking back with remorse and regret. Indecision is okay sometimes if it means that you're still looking for the thing that brings you joy.
