In the world we live in now, most of our entertainment is coming from streaming services like Netflix or Hulu. But there are a lot of great TV shows that are currently airing. I know commercials aren't fun to sit through but these shows might just make up for that.
1. "Cutthroat Kitchen".
This is a cooking competition where each week four chefs battle against each other in three rounds for a prize of $25,000. But there is a catch. Each competitor can buy sabotages to mess with their competitors and make it harder for them to cook a perfect dish. The chef that wins will only receive the money they have left after spending it on the sabotages of their choice. Some examples of these sabotages would be taking away a chef's knives and utensils, forcing them to use aluminum foil to make their own utensils or making a chef use a skillet that is cut in half. Alton Brown is an incredible and hilarious host and the show is truly entertaining. This show airs every Wednesday at 9pm eastern on Food Network.
2. "RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars".
The regular airing of RuPaul's Drag Race is a drag queen competition. Each season, new queens compete in various challenges that involve singing, acting, dancing, and comedy routines to prove that they have charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent. There are eight regular seasons that have already aired and one past All Stars season. In "All Stars", queens that have competed in previous seasons come back to prove themselves as the best or the redeem themselves. The show never has a dull moment. It airs every Thursday at 10 pm eastern on Logo and VH1.
3. "Catfish".
Most people know about this show but incase you haven't heard of it, we follow Nev Schulman and Max Joseph as they help people discover if who they have been talking to online, is who they really say they are. The show is really relevant at this moment due to our obsession with online relationships. There are so many twists and turns during each episode, like in a regular reality TV fashion. The best episodes are when the person isn't who they said they were. I'm not a horrible person, I swear. It airs every Wednesday at 10pm eastern on MTV.
4. "Shark Tank".
Those of you who enjoy learning about business models will like this show. Someone who invents a product goes to "Shark Tank" and presents their product to the panel of "sharks" (multimillionaires and business moguls), then they ask if any of the sharks would be willing to invest money in the creators business. It exposes you to new products that you may have been looking for or have thought about creating yourself. It airs every Friday at 9pm eastern, the new season starting on September 23rd.
5. "Chopped".
Another cooking competition where each week four chefs compete in three rounds, similar to "Cutthroat Kitchen" but there's also a different catch. Each round, the chefs get a basket of four mystery ingredients that they must incorporate into a complete dish, while transforming the given ingredients. They also have access to a pantry and fridge. The winner receives a cash prize of $10,000. This show airs every Tuesday at 10pm eastern on Food Network.
I hope I introduced you to at least one new show that you haven't heard of. Go out there and turn on your televisions for the first time in years and sit through those commercials with pride.
