Society Is Our Bully

Let us agree to disagree

Our society will never be satisfied. No matter how hard we try, someone always has disapproval. Whether it is for the good or the bad, people always have something to say. People have begged for a "affordable healthcare", so the president gave them Obamacare. Not good enough, from both sides of either supporters or non-supporters. The never ending battle for gun laws, the list can go on and on.

When can we just agree to disagree. It is like this country's society is never going to be happy. People complained because the body image was always "skinny", now it is curvy and people are still complaining that girls are not good enough. Why can't everyone be good enough? It is normal to have differences, but why do we have so many?

Stated in the "Star Spangled Banner", we say "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave". This referred to bravery to fight for our country, but it feels like people are becoming brave and fighting against our country. Even freedom is questionable now. Yes, we are technically "free" and very blessed compared to other countries, but with how harsh society is today, it is like we might as well have rules and laws because if you say one thing, someone might come after you just for something you said.

Controversial issues are very typical, but when some are helping people, can we just start letting it go. Some of the issues I do not even agree with, but if it is for the good of the people, why would we be against it just because some of individuals belief? I am not stating whether I am pro or against the Medical Marijuana Act, but after seeing loved ones suffer and wish for something to help their hunger through chemotherapy, they are forced to suffer because we can not agree on something to help.

Marriage or pregnancy at a young age is frowned upon and even though I am not a wife nor a mother (minus my fur baby), there is no reason to give someone a tough time when you do not know them or if there are other circumstances. We were all taught to not be bullies since the beginning of our lives, and meaning to or not, many of us, even myself at times have become one. If we do not have something nice to say, then we should not say it at all. Let us keep our thoughts to ourselves on certain issues.

There are a lot of things I do not agree with that are going on in this world, but getting in to blown out arguments are not worth it anymore. There are somethings that I will continuously stand by my word for, but instead of complaining, I will wait for the voting polls and voice my opinion through the polls because it will keep me out of trouble. For the other minimal things, such as appearance, I know it will always be continuous argument, but somethings can not be avoided.

As much we could change, most of us will not. Therefore we will all constantly be at each others throats because in our country, most of us always have to have the last word and no one can just say screw it and be happy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
