Society Is A Buzzkill

Or Is It?

Society Is A Buzzkill

What is society? What is it composed of? By definition society is people coming together to create an ordered community more or less. But by what facts determine the orders in the community? You could answer with one's culture, or the majority ruling of culture. This could explain why there are so many different views of society, some that people agree on while some that others disagreed on.

In America, society thinks in ways that almost seems contradictory to each other. Be yourself and follow your dreams, they say, but do not forget that you need to follow our guidelines on how to best express yourself. Females can have more freedom and can express themselves, but do not forget to act like the lady that your ancestors were. Act on your dreams because that is the American dream, to build yourself and flourish in what you enjoy doing, oh, but do not forget that only these jobs can pay your bills.

Society is based on certain beliefs that others believe, so if we are basically following beliefs, why cannot we accept others as well? Why must we shut out different beliefs? Many may answer it with to keep everyone on the same page, or to have there be a systematic way of doing things so that we do not face any problems. But have we faced less problems? If someone thinks out of the box, it does not mean they are wrong, or that they should be shunned from society.

Remember, Einstein was also shunned from society for thinking the way he did, yet now he is praised for what he left us, a legacy. Same goes for so many other people who are now more favored than they were when they were alive.

I wouldn't say people who oppose society are always bad, they just think differently and maybe their ideas are what our future is composed of. Maybe we just will not understand their ideals because it is not the time to understand, yet.

But we should not judge other people's societal thoughts, because who says our society is right? After all, we are all entitled to our own opinions.

But where is it that we draw the line? Where can we say what is right or wrong? Who decides what we can agree on? Will we ever be able to come to a consensus for that?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
