What is happening to society??

There was once a time when you entered a restaurant and people weren't on their phones the whole time, they actually had a conversation. Can you imagine? Eating and having an actual conversation. This must be a shock.

Now when you enter a restaurant it's like people are constantly on the phone. Looking at snapchat, twitter, instagram...etc. I mean don't get me wrong I love my social media but I do think that face to face interaciton is important as well. It's not just restaurants; people walk the streets looking down on their phones. It's like hello car coming! Is the Instagram post really worth risking your life? When you go out with friends you immediately have to take a picture and put it on snapchat because if not it never happened, am I right?

Last weekend I went to Sanibel Island, as I was there I made it a priority to not use my phone as much (not to mention the reception wasn't all that great either). I did use my phone to take pictures when necessary. But, since I didn't have my phone I did a lot of people watching, and it amazed me seeing all these people texting on their phone when there is this gorgeous view right in front of you! It makes you want to snatch their phones away and make them look at what their missing out on! Even when I went out to dinner there were little kids on their mini iPads, but then when you looked at the parents on their phones you understood the situation. I do understand though in some situations where you have to work while on vacation. But, it doesn't mean you work the whole time. If you are going to work, then you really shouldn't call it a vacation.

Here is my view from our hotel room in Sanibel:

My point is I wish people would take time to put their phones down and enjoy the world going on around them. Time flies by so fast and it would be terrible to look back on your life and wonder about they 'what if's'. What if you would put your phone down and enjoy the view? What if you would go on a date and actually interact with the person? What if you went a whole day without using social media?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
