If someone had told me 6 months ago that the phrase "social distancing" would become a part of my daily vocabulary, I would have never believed them. However, it is a phrase that has defined the period of coronavirus and is often followed by "6 feet apart". With the introduction of this phrase came the emergence of social distancing gatherings where often, small groups of people sit in the trunk of their cars 6 feet or more apart and hang out from a safe distance.
With it looking like these types of gatherings are going to be prevalent for the indefinite future. I decided to share some fun activities that you and your friends can do at your next social distancing gathering from a safe distance.
TikTok dances

By now, most people have a TikTok and dances (while popular before quarantine) have really become a source of entertainment for almost everyone stuck at home. If you and your friends are as addicted to TikTok as my friends and I are, there's a pretty good chance that you all have spent hours learning the same dances. If you are looking for something fun to do at your next social distancing gathering that gives off a taste of normalcy, why not make a dancing TikTok? Put the camera in the trunk of someone's car and space yourselves 6 ft. or more apart and do those dances that you have spent 4 hours in your bedroom trying to learn. Maybe you'll go viral!
Kick a soccer ball around

Soccer is great because it doesn't involve touching the ball. Have you and your friends stand at least 6 feet apart and see how many times you can kick the soccer ball around without it rolling away. Or play monkey in the middle, where you have to try and kick it to the other person without the person in the middle getting it (as long as you can stay a safe distance away). This activity is the perfect social distancing activity in that it allows you to get some exercise and hang out with your friends while maintaining a safe distance.
Do a workout together

With the emergence of online workout gurus like Chloe Ting during quarantine, working out without going to a gym has never been easier. The only thing missing from the actual gym experience is a workout buddy to cheer you on. At your next social distancing gathering, have everyone bring a mat or blanket of some kind and set them a safe distance apart. Then find an online workout of some kind and cheer each other on as you all plank. This is a great way to spend time with your friends, be safe, and maybe even develop abs.
I understand that nothing can replace the feeling of actually hanging out with your friends in a normal way but hopefully, these activities should be a good replacement during this difficult period. One day, things will start to resemble normal and phrases like social distancing will become obsolete, but until then, it's important that we adhere to guidelines put in place to stop the spread. Have fun and remember to stay 6 ft. apart.
