So You Think You Want To Be Gay?

Same-sex relationships are not always rainbows and unicorns.

So You Think You Want To Be Gay?

Imagine this: you've had yet another fight with your boyfriend or girlfriend, husband or wife, baby daddy or your baby mama, you're at your wits end and you think, "My life would be so much easier if I were gay!" Because being with a the same sex puts you at an advantage since they know what you like and women are sensitive and men are strong and bold...well you're wrong. I'm here to tell you that gay relationships are just as crazy, if not crazier than heterosexual ones.

Not only do we fight about the same things: money, kids, work, sex, chores, doing this or doing that, we (women) are emotionally driven creatures, you get two women who are PMS'ing and you better watch out! It turns in to the next world war in this house. We have jealous moments and senseless arguments, we feel inadequate at times, just like a straight couple would after a fight. We have regrets about our past relationships or sexual encounters, there are decisions we wish we had made when it came to exes just like the straights.

There is also the hidden community of domestic violence within same-sex relationships that people don't think can happen, but a woman can be just as manipulative and terrifying to another woman, and a man can beat the heck out of another man and be just as violent as, if not more, than a straight couple. Not everything is rainbows and unicorns like some things would have you believe. Actually, I wish that it was, it would make things a lot easier sometimes.

We gays, deal with the same amount, if not more drama than straights too. Have you ever argued with a gay boy? Think about this. Have you ever been confronted by a butch girl? If you have then you have written the rest of this article, if you haven't let me try to explain. There are some queens out there that are sassier than the sassiest girl you know, and there are some butches out there that can give the biggest man a run for his money. Basically, don't let looks fool you.

In spite of all of this, there is love and when it is uninhibited, just like any love, it is perfect. It can be magical rainbows and unicorns. It can be successful, we have families and friends who we love too. Everything works out, it just so happens that we love the same sex. Which isn't as big of a deal as it used to be, but there are still the skeptics, well to those who question our lives, just know that it's not always easy, but we do what makes us happy.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
