Snow days...just the thought of them would get me excited when I was younger. Now, don't get me wrong, snow is still fun and cool, just not as fun and cool as it was when I was a little kid. Snow days as an elementary or middle schooler meant days off of school spent playing with friends and family. Now, it means we have to drive in snow and ice. Yikes.
When you're a kid, the snow looks magical.
The snow means days full of sledding
Making snow angels
And having competitions to see who can make the best snowball.
When you get older, the snow is still really pretty and fun, but it's not as exciting.
Now, a snow day means having to drive in the snow and ice.
Little kids don't feel the cold as much, so they can stay outside and play in the snow for a long time.
Now, it's almost as much fun to stay inside with hot chocolate and a movie.
Little kids see the snow day as a surprise break from school.
Now, it's still a welcome break from school and work, but we know there will be assignments to make up when we go back.
One thing that both little kids and adults can agree on, though, is that a snow day is still always a very welcome break.
