Hear that? It is the sound of a notification you hear coming from your phone or someone around you. It is hard to be bombarded with notifications from various applications, it becomes a task to respond back to your friends. I admit it, it is tough to keep in touch with my friends during a hectic school week.

Have no fear, our hero Snapchat is here to keep up with our friendships. So why Snapchat versus all the other social media applications provided to us? Here are a few reasons why Snapchat features have the winning streak:

1. Best Friends

Snapchat ranks your friends using a secret algorithm that calculates who your best friends are. The list ranks your top seven best friends with correlating emojis that let you know who you communicate with the most. It motivates you to snap your friends so that both of you remain on each other's list.

2. Geofilters

This feature is location based, the best part about is that you can use this to low-key let your friends know where you are.

3. Phone/Video Calls

I know what you are thinking, "I can easily Facetime or just call them." But this increases productivity within the app, no need for you to leave it. Snapchat lets you do it all!

4. Read Receipts

This feature allows you to see exactly when someone opened the snap you sent them. It is in the moment so you have the obligation to send them a quick message back. This reminds you to respond timely because they will know when you saw it and show the exact time it was seen.

5. Saved Messages

Worried you will forget what your friends said? Well, you can save their specific message or replay the snap. This prevents the awkward "I forgot" messages.

6. Selfie Lenses

Use these selfie filters for when you want to send something completely random and silly to make your friends laugh. This can easily turn into a streak! Try the dog-filter or flower crown filter!
