The Smile Project Just Launched An Ambassador Program, And I Can't Wait To Get Started

The Smile Project is a nonprofit organization devoted to spreading happiness, founded by Elizabeth Buechele. It all started on a random day in the fall of her senior year. She was driving home from school when this thought crossed her mind: "Day 1: Happiness is…those perfect car rides where the radio just plays all the right songs."

Since then, Liz has posted a "Happiness is…" every day, exceeding 3,000 days. The Smile Ambassador Program is a way for individuals to do just that, commit to finding happiness and joy in every day.

The Smile Ambassador Program was announced on social media on September 13. More details were posted a few days later.

Ambassadors are joy recorders and are encouraged to share their joys on social media with #SmileProjectAmbassador. The hope is that this will spark more individual gratitude and awareness as well as a community of kindness and love.

Ambassadors are also added to a Facebook group and will receive monthly emails with questions and challenges to help expand comfort zones and broaden horizons. Prior to the program's announcement, there were already seven "unofficial" ambassadors.

Here's what Buechele has to say about recording joy daily, "Cultivating a daily practice of recording my joy has by far been the simplest and most important thing I have done in my life…If I could give any gift to someone I love, it would be the life-changing magic of a consistent gratitude practice."

Some of the ambassadors have been recording their "Happiness is" for years and others just a few days. I have joined this already amazing community and will officially begin my "Happiness is" journey on October 1.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
