3 Days That Forever Changed Me
SMC 2016

Winter break… in other words, time with family, friends, relaxing, and everything in between. This year, however, there was a new addition that made my break one I will forever remember. I can undoubtedly say that this year was the best Christmas break I have ever had for a lot of reasons, but what sealed the deal was Jan. 2 through Jan. 5, when I got the opportunity to go to Oklahoma City for SMC.

SMC, Student Mobilization Conference, is a three day conference that over 2,500 college students attended this year.

SMC was in every way amazing and life changing. Here’s why:

Being surrounded by 2500 other college students willing to take a weekend out of their Christmas break to let the Lord transform their heart is absolutely surreal.

Constant praise, amazing speakers, and incredible worship bands.

Countless workshops catered to areas you currently need the most guidance in. Whether it be relationships, how to get the most out of scripture reading, how to be a faithful Christian in college, finding our purpose in this world, or even how to love your husband before you even have one, SMC had it all.

Our hearts were overflowingly filled and our hands reached out in a hunger for more of the Lord's endless truth, love, and grace.

Finally, I met some new lifelong friends with similar mindsets who want to pursue their faith and make it a priority throughout college and for the rest of their lives.

My life is forever changed. I trust so much more now that God truly has a plan for me and there is someone so much greater in control of my life.

I'm already counting down the days until SMC 2017. Hope you will join and be open to the many ways the Lord yearns to transform our hearts. Pursue your walk with Christ and I promise you, He will absolutely blow your mind.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
