Smartphones are extremely helpful in many cases: you can call anyone at any time, you can google something whenever you need, and you can play music without lugging around a boombox or Walkman. The problem is that when you carry them around with you all the time, there are plenty of opportunities for the smartphone to break. I mean, you forget it in your pocket ONE time when you wash you clothes, and all of sudden the phone is completely broken and you need a new one. (Trust me, it happens). Cases are nice, and can sometimes protect them, but, not even the case can protect the fragile phone from destruction.
This is a problem that I often find with my smartphones, I have lost countless smartphone to incidents that I feel were quite tragic. I have sent one through the wash, lost a few to the toilet, and sent some crashing to the ground from a tree. But, I am not the only one that has suffered from this fragility of these devices, my mom has also had her share of potty phones, and my dad ran over his with a car and all of a sudden it was unusable.
After suffering from this for so long, I thought I had finally found a phone that would last. It seemed to be invincible, it was perfect. I had dropped it in the toilet on a few occasions (I think the final tally was about three or four) and it still remained in almost perfect working condition. I never wanted to lose that phone and was pretty sure that I wouldn't have to worry until the inevitable happened.
One weekend, I decided to take a trip home to relax a bit. My mom came to pick me up because I don't have a car on campus, then we went to my sisters basketball game that night. Everything was fine, I was watching the game, texting my friends, having a good time. When the game was over, me and my mom were planning on going straight home, until it happened. I got in the car and went to put on my seat belt while my phone was in my other hand. I must have miscalculated the angle to reach the buckle because, in a split second, my seat belt was smashing into my phone screen. The life slowly faded out until all I had was the black carcass of the phone that I thought to be indestructible.
That day I lost the phone that had lasted through much that my previous phones would have never been able to handle. We hurried to the Sprint store to find a replacement. Of course, they don't sell that model anymore because there were new "better" ones. I ended up getting the newest version. I will admit, I was a little bitter about it, but I tried it anyway. I have had this new phone for a few weeks and seems to be holding up pretty well so far. It has even already had it's first toilet escapade.
