Photography is not one of those things I ever expected to get into. Carrying around those big bulky cameras while standing around in public taking pictures is not something I ever pictured myself doing. Thanks to my photography class of course, I’ve been exposed to a totally new experience, one I ended up liking tremendously.
I think the main reason I viewed photography as silly is because I really didn’t know how good a picture could get. After snapping photos with my (famously bad) Android camera for so long, I just accepted the fact that my pictures were going to look OK and it would be rather hard to capture an image the same ways my eyes would. Everything changed the day I got to hold and operate my own professional Canon DSLR camera.
I realized that I could capture pictures somewhat close to the quality my eye could see, and that changed the game completely. Once I learned photo editing software, the rest was history. I realized something. I loved photography. Something about being able to capture gorgeous scenes and just freeze frame them, then edit them to look even more gorgeous and really make every little detail pop.
I’ve always been a fan of capturing gorgeous scenes of nature, but my Android camera never did it any justice. The lighting was always crap, and everything came out warped and distorted. Once I learned how to balance out the lighting in a picture to capture that perfect shot, I was able to take high quality photographs that looked professional and really popped.
I would recommend anyone who loves taking pictures with their phone try out a more expensive DSLR camera. The leaps and bounds in quality and enjoyment you gain out of the photos is something that is well worth the cost and time to learn. If you’re like me, you’ll gain a new respect for photography, and maybe even discover your inner artist in the meantime.
