Small towns. They are the best place to live. You know this place like the back of your hand, and wouldn't give up the friendships, memories, and lessons learned here. Near or far, you know that no matter what, you are close to home. Here are 10 things that you know to be true if you're from a small town.
1. There is at least one IGA.
Forget butter? Don't worry, IGA will hook you up.
2. You might be lucky if there is one stop light.
3. Your neighbors are pretty much your family.
Just casually going to their house for dinner, even though you weren't invited.
4. You end up marrying your elementary sweetheart.
"Where did you all meet?"
"In Ms. Smith's second-grade class."
5. Everything is within walking distance.
6. Everyone knows your business. Secrets aren't allowed.
Don't kiss that boy unless you want the whole town talking about it.
7. You know all the back roads.
Getting to the nearest town in 15 minutes rather than 30 minutes.
8. You recognize everyone that you pass on the road.
"Hi Carol who's mom's, sister's, Great Aunt was my babysitter!"
9. When people ask where you are from and you use the nearest big city.
"I'm actually from Lexington, Kentucky." (But really from Wilmore... Try to find that on a map.)
10. You wouldn't want to call any other place home.
This is where you friends are, your best friends, and your favorite memories.
The small town you live in makes you appreciate the little things in life. Even if people don't know where you live on the map, you know where it is, and your heart is there to stay. You wouldn't trade it for the world.
