How do you know what college is right for you? College is not all about education, while that is very important, it is about the experience as well. When it is time for you to chose a college, consider choosing quality over quantity.
Now there is nothing wrong with GIANT universities. They are definitely popular choices. They have thousands of students, huge campuses, plenty of professors, and of course, a big name.
Why not consider a small college? You know the one that only a few people have ever heard of. Even though they are not always "big name" schools, they have their own unique benefits.
1. Small Campus
Small colleges are known for their small campuses. It may take you five minutes to get to and from classes. This means that you can snooze your alarm ten times and still be on time to class.
2. Small Classes
With small classes it is easier ask more questions, listen more intently, and get a better understanding of things. Another perk about this, is at a small college, there is a good chance that some people may be in more than one of your classes! This also helps you meet people and interact. In these classes you will not feel like just another face in the crowd.
3. Close Community
When you get involved in the small community, you are becoming part of something bigger than yourself. With the lower number of students, you are able to meet more people and make more connections. This is easier at a small school because the amount of students is not overwhelming.
4.Close Relationships With Professors
Though you may never want to admit it, you will become close to your professors. You will make one on one relationships with the professors that you would not have the opportunity to do that at a larger school. This may not seem like "cool" thing, but better relationships with your professors will help you in the long run. They will remember you and be able to accommodate you.
5.You Get The Feeling That You Belong
Sports, Greek Life, Ministries, Volunteering, and so much more. Small campuses offer many different activities. The closeness that is gained through a small community is satisfying. You are welcomed to participate in so many different things. It is so easy to be involved on campus.
6. Seeing People More Than Once
Every small campus has that ONE PERSON who you see everywhere. He's the guy that everyone knows and loves. This also means that you will most likely see that girl who sits next to you in math class. Small campuses make it easier to meet more people, because you will probably see people more than once a day.
