Body positivity is a very interesting thing nowadays. Society and social media have, without a doubt, influenced the way people think, not only about themselves but also about others. In the world of social media, celebrities, and influencers, we have ill-conceived notions about how we should look. I'm sure that everybody has their own insecurities, I know I do. The biggest thing to remember is that you shouldn't comment on how other's look.
Keep your thoughts and opinion to yourself unless they are kind and genuine.
While it may be hard to believe, it's another form of body-shaming. If I made $1 for every single time someone has told me that I needed to eat more because I'm "too skinny," I would be incredibly rich. News flash! I eat. A lot. I'm constantly eating and I'm constantly snacking but I just can't seem to gain weight. It really doesn't matter whether or not a "skinny" person is trying to gain weight. You don't know them. Don't tell them what to do. Don't make assumptions of who they are and of their habits.
It's an insult, whether you mean it to be or not. It all depends on the person of course. Some people don't care but I know that there are individuals out there who care deeply. Some people can't help how they develop. A large part of it is our genes. I can eat and eat, and then eat some more, but I will never grow. I haven't grown since I was a sophomore in high school, I highly doubt I'll grow now as a senior in college.
Moreover, consider the factor of one's metabolism. I am constantly on the move. I'm always working, exercising, or just messing around. I don't sit still for long so I'm always burning off the calories that I shove down my throat. Some people have a faster metabolism than others — the majority of us skinny people tend to have a quick working metabolism.
The biggest takeaway lesson from this is that you shouldn't make comments about another person's image. Thank you so much for stating the obvious and telling us skinny people that we're "too skinny." I can guarantee you that we're all already aware! Please keep your comments kind and genuine. The message being sent out is that if you can tell someone they're "too skinny," then you can also tell someone they're "too fat."
