Are you stressed? Are you breaking out? Because I know I am.

Sometimes, it’s really hard not to be stressed. It’s even harder to eat clean and healthy because my favorite food is a cheeseburger. I am stressed 24/7 because college is super stressful. Assignments are always all up in my face and I get too stressed. Pimples are like, "we are back!"

I hate it so much. I hate that I am stressed and I hate that I get pimples. I hate that I am stressed because of pimples that are caused by stress. It's a ridiculous cycle! So, I actually did some research on skin care and I always try my best to take care of my skin. Here are some tips I learned along the way. I hope it helps you like it helped me.

1. Always wash your face before you sleep.

Sometimes, I am too tired and lazy to wash my face every night. When I don't wash it, a couple of days later, pimples are back. I wonder why! This is my number one rule that I live by. Always wash your face! I wear makeup mostly everyday, but whether you wear makeup or not, you need to wash your face. Otherwise, you will break out. This is one of the reasons why we break out and it’s so simple that we forget it. Nowadays, I wash my face every single night and now my skin is getting clearer.

2. Use a moisturizer.

I know you get too lazy sometimes or when you are rushing to get to school or work at 7 in the morning, you forget to put on a moisturizer. It’s not okay. Moisturizer is your skin’s food and if you don’t give your skin what it needs, it’s not going to turn out good. Since you just washed your face, whether it’s in the morning or before you go to sleep, always make sure you put on a moisturizer. Give your skin what it needs but don’t put too many products. Always remember, “less is more.”

3. Try to eat clean.

I am not saying you need to be on a diet or anything. If you know it’s he time of the month or if it’s finals week, cut down a little on junk food and fast food. Don’t just eat the first thing that comes to your mind. Sometimes, we need comfort food or a cheat day and that’s okay. If you know your skin is acting up, try to eat clean. Substitute a yogurt instead of having chips for a snack. Eating clean will help you so much, I promise.

4. Know what works for you.

You see those girls on Instagram with perfect skin and highlighter popping? It’s not real. Yes, this is the truth. No one is that perfect but they know what works for them. Sometimes, buying expensive products seems like the best way to treat your skin but that’s not how it works. Just because it is Chanel doesn’t mean it will work well with your skin. Sometimes you break out from high end products. So, learn more about your skin type and actually read the reviews before you buy. Don’t just put anything on your skin because someone told you that product is amazing. It is amazing for them, but maybe not for you. The best way is to learn more about your skin and buy the products that are effective and right for you.

5. Get enough sleep.

No, three hours of sleep is not okay. Surviving on cold brew is not okay. Watching Netflix until 4 in the morning when you know you have to wake up at 7 is not okay. It is okay on the weekends if you want to stay up late but if you know you have a long day ahead, please try to get at least eight hours of sleep. If you don’t sleep enough, your skin will act up. It’s simple as that. This is so easy but so hard at the same time because even I can’t go to bed that early everyday but I really try to sleep a lot. Naps are not the same; trust me. Try to sleep between 12 A.M to 3 A.M if you can because you can still wake up at 6 A.M to review for your exam or to finish your tasks. Sleeping between those three hours is so crucial, so please try to sleep more.

6. Scrub, mask, moisturize!

Use a face scrub twice a week. Put on a face mask at least once a week. Moisturize everyday. Three simple tips go along the way. Have fun while you pick out good products that work for you. I always enjoy going shopping for face masks. I tend to use the same moisturizer for a good month or two. Changing up something you use everyday can be harsh on your skin so try to use the same moisturizer for at least a month. It really helps. You can change up your scrubs, masks, and cleansers though; it’s okay. Just make sure you treat your skin right.

I hope you enjoy these tips and it works out for you. Good luck.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
