Long hair don't care, right?

16 Struggles Only People With Long Hair Understand

Having long hair is a blessing, but it's also a curse. People always tell you how awesome your hair is or how beautiful, but they don't know how many times you've contemplated cutting it all off. There are so many struggles people with long hair endure every single day, and it's time to let the world know that these glorious manes come with a price--and not everyone can handle it.

1. Ponytails

Ponytails are my go-to 'do. It's probably the easiest style to maintain, but unfortunately I either forget to bring a ponytail holder, the ponytail holder snaps, or (as happens many times) my hair just doesn't want to cooperate.

2. Buns

Lol, don't even try. Buns don't work ever. Not even with a million bobby pins, a ton of hairspray, and six extra hands. Odds are your bun ends up looking like an animal sitting on your head. A very tangled animal.

3. Brushing your luscious locks

You love your long hair until it's time to brush it. Odds are you have to bend in weird ways to brush all of it and might even need help on those days when you can't deal anymore. And let's not even talk about the arm aches.

4. Washing that mane

I often have to psyche myself up all day to wash my hair. It takes forever and when I leave the shower, a long trail of water follows me. And I don't even want to talk about all the shampoo and conditioner I use.

5. Sleeping is dangerous

You have to carefully position your hair so that you can roll over without pulling out a wad of hair or straining your neck every single night. To top it all off, your hair sometimes decides to strangle you while you sleep (but no biggie).

6. Your hair gets stuck in everything.

Honestly, nothing sucks worse than when your hair gets caught in something. Whether it's a zipper, purse or backpack strap, car window or door, it hurts.

7. Styling your hair is a daily workout.

It takes forever to tame that luscious mane of yours, and by the end of it your arms are on fire.

8. You may have an irrational fear of haircuts.

Odds are you've gotten a terrible haircut in your life. You went in to get your dead ends trimmed, and you ended up losing six inches. Ever since then you've had a fear of haircuts because you can't emotionally handle losing all of your hair again.

9. Shedding

You're probably really surprised you haven't gone bald yet. It seems you lose a thousand pieces of hair a day. You've undoubtedly had to unclog numerous drains in your life, and your friends are always pulling your hair either off your clothes or themselves. The worst thing is that sometimes you feel like a spider is crawling on you, but it's really just a loose strand of hair.

10. Eating

Either your hair ends up in your food or your food ends up in your hair. There's really no winning here.

11. Wind is your worst enemy.

You brushed your hair 10 seconds ago, and then wind comes along and tangles it up again. You've probably eaten your hair or been blinded when this happens. But I think we can all agree that there's nothing worse than when the wind blows your hair into your lip gloss.

12. Swimming

You were hoping that this time would be different and that you'd look like a Victoria Secret model with that perfect wet hair look, but instead you ended up looking like a drowned rat. Plus, your hair seems to weigh a ton, and hair flips are virtually impossible. Say goodbye to those beautiful Instagram photos.

13. You wonder why you even try.

You brush it and poof. You go outside and poof. You wake up early to style it, and guess what? It's raining. Congratulations! You now look like a wet poodle.

14. You can never fit all of your hair in a selfie.

Your hair looks awesome, and you want the world to know. Unfortunately, that small Instagram square isn't cutting it. Your epic 'do just won't fit, and there's nothing you can do about it... except maybe buy a selfie stick.

15. Your hair covers whatever you're wearing.

Oh, are you wearing a gorgeous top? Is your dress backless? No one would ever know because your hair completely covers it.

16. Your hair takes forever to dry.

Unless you have a few hours to kill, don't wash your hair. It doesn't matter whether you blow dry it or let it air dry. It will take pretty much all day for it to dry.

But at the end of the day, it's all worth it-- because your hair rocks.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
