Six Little Known Facts About Harambe

Unless you're Harambe, you have probably heard about the public outcry surrounding the almighty gorilla's tragic death in the past four months. And though it was a truly devastating incident, it has resulted in some good through the beautiful tributes and songs that have emerged from the depths of despair and mourning to pay homage to Harambe.

Consequently, in a time where our country is more divided than ever, this majestic animal's passing has united us all through the unbridled hate we share for a shitty mother. It's truly something special.

And yet, despite all the moving tributes for Harambe, there is very little information out there about his life and why he was so beloved.

Well, that all changes today. For behold, I present to you six little known facts about Harambe that show just how blessed we were to even have him for the seventeen short years that we did.

1. He was a gifted, young actor

Harambe's first taste of the spotlight came when he was cast as an extra in the 1999 Disney classic, Tarzan. Even then, his talent was so apparent that one of his co-stars said, "He is wa going to be the best animal actor since Sarah Jessica Parker, and that's saying something. She was amazing in War Horse."

2. Harambe predicted the Super Bowl winner in 9 of the last 10 Super Bowls

Unfortunately, he never predicted the correct Super Bowl winner.

3. He was a philanimalthropist

After CGI animals started replacing real animals in the movie industry, Harambe became an outspoken advocate for real animals in Hollywood. His most notable act coming from his protest at the premiere of Disney's 2016 movie, The Jungle Book.

4. He just cared

When asked, "If it hadn't been for forcibly volunteering to have a career in zoo entertainment, what would your profession have been?" Harambe answered, "I've always loved knitting patterns. So I would probably find a way to knit patterns and donate them to the homeless."

5. He wanted to make the world a less drowny place

After having a near death swimming experience at a young age, one of Harambe's lifetime goals was to open a swimming school for all species to attend so that no child, whether it be beast or human, would ever have to undergo something like what he endured. Pictured below is Harambe with his first and last client.

6. He is greatly missed by all who crossed paths with him

Upon hearing of Harambe's death, Koko the Gorilla melancholically signed, "Shit is whack, bruh." In addition, Kieko, the star whale from Free Willy, had this to say after the gorilla's death. "bbloooeeeeeee gggahahhhh neeeeeeeaaaa moooooooo."

A truly moving sentiment.

As you can see, Harambe lived a full and memorable life, and though his death was unfortunate I think we can all learn a lesson from him. We shouldn't live a life of regrets and "what if's." No, we should be like Harambe and go out with a bang.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
