10 Reasons Why Sisters Are The Best
Pure Thoughts

Whether they are older or younger, sisters can be a bit annoying sometimes. You have to deal with sharing your parents’ attention, tracking down clothes that went missing from your closet, figuring out who ate all the ice cream you were looking forward to and of course, bickering constantly. Okay, but sisters aren’t all that bad. They can actually be pretty cool. Sometimes, they even turn out to be your best friends. Here are 10 reasons why I think sisters are the best.

1. They distract your parents.

Okay, let’s be honest. We can’t always be perfect, and someone definitely has to take the blame. When we sneak around mom and dad, trying to avoid them, we can always count on our sisters to do something interesting for long enough to distract the ‘rents.

2. They are stuck with you.

Like it or not, our sisters have us for the rest of their lives. They have no choice but to love us.

3. They love your despite your flaws.

4. They share their closet.

Willingly or not, sisters always share their clothes. Even though it may be annoying to have your sib stealing things all the time, it’s an honor that they like your style. It’s actually a way of complimenting you.

5. Sometimes they even share their food.

Whenever you spot the last item of food that you’ve been craving, and you voice it out to your sis, she usually ends up sharing. Sometimes sisters even put extra food on their plate because they know you’ll end up picking things off.

6. They buy you things they know you’ll like.

People can try to get to know you, but no one will ever know you as well as your sister. She always picks the best gifts because she knows just what you like.

7. They look up to you (if they’re little).

Little sisters look up to you, and you should feel honored. You’re their role model, and they aspire to be just like you. Sometimes it can seem annoying, but really it’s a special thing. Enjoy it because they won’t always be little.

8. They try to be a role model (if they’re older).

They know you look up to them. Sometimes they can get a little bossy, but they’re just trying to make sure they do the right thing for you. Big sisters try so hard to make sure you don’t make their same mistakes. They’d do anything to protect you.

9. They are your best friend.

Friends come and go, but not sisters. Maybe being stuck with someone your whole life can be intimidating, but sisters aren’t afraid. Sisters stick together, sisters fight, sisters have ups and downs, but sisters are always there for each other at the end of the day.

10. They are fun!

Just think where you would be without your sister. Sure, she can really drive you crazy, but isn’t that part of the fun. Think about the time she stole your ice cream sandwich when you weren’t looking, or the time she drew you a picture of yourself that you desperately hoped didn’t actually resemble you. Remember the time you went swimming together or maybe the time you cried in her arms. Think about all the times you’ve had fun together and never wanted it to end. That’s what a sister is. A sister is fun.

Over time, friends will fade, but your sister is one person you can always count on to be there for you. The relationship between sisters is a very special one. Don't take it for granted.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
