To My Younger Sister Who Is Hundreds Of Miles Away

Yes, I moved hundreds of miles away, but that doesn’t mean I love you any less.

Before you, I was an only child struggling to understand the cool slang my friends had learned from their older siblings. I always wished that I had an older sibling to guide me through my awkward years (or at least make them a little less painful). I want to be that person for you.

I’m not going to lie… things get tough. There will be days where you’ll want to hide in a hole and never come out. You’ll fight with your friends but trust me, it’s not worth it.

Life is too short to be worried about the little things. You only have so much time to be young and not have to worry about your future.

Enjoy being able to come home from school and spend hours outside on the playground, or the late nights cuddling with mom on the couch. Because one day you’ll be away at college studying your life away wishing that you could just rewind the clock to a simpler time: a time where your biggest concern was what you were going to wear the next day.

I wish I could be there for you during this pivotal period in your life. The times where girls are mean and boys are starting to not have cooties anymore. When homework becomes hard and teachers become strict.

Although physically I am unable to be there, just know that I am only a Facetime away. No matter the question or problem, I will always be there to give you the best advice or embarrassing story from when I went through the same thing years ago.

So, hug mom a little tighter, pay extra attention to the dogs, and don’t stress the small stuff.

We may fight, but in the end, you are my sister and I will always have your back even if we are hundreds of miles apart.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
