Sisterhood To Me
Taylor Diagrepont
"Sisterhood is a noun that means "a bond by between two or more girls, not always related by blood. They always tell the truth, honor each other, and love each other like sisters."
- Urban Dictionary

Many people wonder what a sisterhood (in Greek Life) is really about, what all the money goes to and why they should pay for their friends. I'm here to let you know about the truth. The really nitty gritty stuff.

First off, if that definition from Urban Dictionary doesn't make your heart swell, then I don't know what will. That definition could not be worded a better way. It has always been hard for me to put into words what it feels like to have sisters there for me at school and even just explain what sisterhood should be and is like. When I read that definition I think of the countless sisters who I could call in the middle of the night. the girls in my pledge class who have become my best friends and the bond I have with my sisters.

Now to what the money goes to. Have you heard the phrase "all good things in life are free"? I have and I completely agree with it. But lets be real besides your sisters being your friends you can't go to that theme park, nail salon, skating rink, or safari for free. All that has to be paid for and that is what your dues are going towards, you know all that stuff when the Finance Officer pulls out that big checkbook. Yeah thats it.

And lastly paying for friends? Well honestly no one has ever asked me this to my face. But it is one of the most common things brought up in movies and television when people talk about Greek Life and sororities. But let me ask you this. Would you really join something to pay over $100 a month just so you have friends. I mean if all I wanted was friends then I would have just joined something like the math club ( that's just an example.Me in math club? lol that'd be something). No I wanted to join a sisterhood. Something that is way more than just friends. It is an opportunity to be something much bigger than my self, a place to learn about leadership, and something filled with memories that are sure to last a lifetime.

Sisterhood to me is the times that you remember when you look at a picture, the sisters you call at midnight, and the Big that always has to know where you are and will hurt whoever hurts you. It's the ritual you share with sisters who came before you and will share with those who aren't even born yet.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
