They say in the dictionary that a sister is “a female with one or both of the same parents as you,” but a sister is so much more than that. A sister is someone who grows to be one of your best friends and one of the longest lasting friendships you’ll ever have. Having a sister can be a blessing and a curse at the same time, but at the end of the day, you both know that you’ll love each other until the day you die.
A sister steals your clothes, your shoes, your makeup, your charger and anything else that you enjoy possessing. She’ll deny it every time too. A sister is someone who you can fight with multiple times a day and makeup with each other in 10 minutes. She will pick you up wherever you are, even if you aren’t supposed to be there.
When you have a sister, you can go days without talking to each other and still know that they’re there for you. If something happens in your life and you need advice, a sister will always be there to listen and tell you exactly what she thinks.
Shopping can always be difficult with a sister because, trust me, if they don’t like something that you pick up they won’t hold back any comment they have. Over time, you learn to love and become interested in the things that your sister enjoys such as art, music, styles of clothing, etc. A sister brings a lot to our lives, but there’s not enough time in the world to list them all.
You’ll always have the most memories with your sister. She will be the one you are constantly worried about, thinking about, wanting the best for and protecting. A sister is someone who is meant to drive you absolutely batshit crazy, who you learn to love more than anyone and who has your back more times than any friend you’ll ever have. As much fun as you can have with friends and boyfriends, the times you have with your sister will never compare. Even though the dictionary’s definition of a sister explains it as just sharing DNA, you share so much more with your sister than that.
Forever thankful for both of my sisters, what they’ve taught me, and what they do to make me proud. I love them no matter what and I’m thankful to have a forever friend that I can call my sister.
