Valentine's Day - a day of chocolate, flowers, and people in love. Every year V-Day hits, and couple-less individuals are left stranded in the same cycle of trying to get through the day unscathed, and failing. You either attempt to avoid all signs of love entirely (which is an impossibility on Valentine's Day), resentfully joke about how V-Day is all a conspiracy by Hallmark to make money, or...you just try to go with the flow and embrace the day. No matter what your strategy is, though, things don't usually go according to plan when V-Day hits. One way or another, you have to face the fact that you are single on a day dedicated to couples. The following is a sneak peek into the stereotypical single lady's Valentine's Day!
1. First, wake up and remember that today is Valentine's Day, otherwise known as Couples Appreciation Day.
2. Put extra effort into looking good; who knows? Maybe today is the day you meet Mr. Right.
3. Go to school/work/the store, and be bombarded by constant reminders that today is about people in love, which you are not.
4. Attempt to play it cool. So what if it seems like everyone but you is in love?!
5. Try, and fail, to remain positive throughout the day.
6. Make an emergency Nutella, ice cream, and wine run.
7. Contact all your single friends and invite them over for a girls' night.
8. Have a movie marathon with your friends. The only rules are: 1) You must eat whatever and however much your heart desires, and 2) sloppy pajamas are a must.
9. Have a heart-to-heart with all your girlfriends. Realize that just because you are not in a couple on Valentine's Day does not mean you are alone or unloved.
10. Remember that you are an incredible human being, and that you don't need another person to complete you. You are unconditionally, unquestionable 100 percent amazing, just as you are.
11. Love yo'self.
