10 Singers Whose Faces Don't Match Their Voices

Well, that was unexpected.

10 Singers Whose Faces Don't Match Their Voices

When we hear songs on the radio for the first time, we create mental pictures in our heads of what artists might look like based on their voices. Some artists have especially unique tones and look nothing like we pictured them at first, even if they have now evolved into well-recognized celebrities. In no particular order, here are 10 musical artists whose appearances are completely different from their sound.

1. George Ezra

Despite the fact that the “Budapest” singer sounds like he’s in his 50s, he actually just turned 22. Ezra is a slim and blonde, probably the opposite of how you envisioned him. His mature, deep voice had us all thinking he had a long, bushy beard.

2. Sia

The fact that Sia doesn’t show her face made me way more curious to find out what she looks like. Sia may sound like she’s in her 20s, but she’s actually only 39 years old. Plot twist.

3. Shawn Mendes

When I first heard Shawn Mendes sing, I was amazed by his talent, guitar playing ability, and smooth voice. Then I looked up a picture, and I was equally as mesmerized by his good looks. Then I felt like a total creep because I realized he’s only 16...Oops.

4. Ed Sheeran

We all know what Ed Sheeran looks like now, but was anyone else as shocked as I was the first time you Googled his picture? Don’t get me wrong-- I love redheads, I just wasn’t expecting it. All of the sudden, Ron Weasley can sing. It’s a dream come true.

5. Ellie Goulding

Ellie Goulding’s voice is high-pitched and eerie-sounding. I envisioned her as a total hipster wearing oversized glasses, a vest, or a even fedora. In reality, she looks like a Barbie doll mixed with a cuter version of Ke$ha.

6. Jess Glynne

You may not know her by name, but you would definitely know her voice if you heard it. The 25-year-old singer, who is featured in Clean Bandit’s track “Rather Be,” has a very distinctive tone. I was most surprised by Glynne's curly, bushy red hair. She looks like a prettier version of Merida, the protagonist from Pixar's animated film "Brave."

7. Isaac Slade of "The Fray" (pictured second on the right):

When I first heard the soft piano track “How To Save a Life,” I pictured the main singer of the Fray having hair tied back in a ponytail, or possibly a man bun. I was actually shocked to find that Isaac Slade has no hair at all. Isaac rocks his shiny bald head, but his look definitely doesn’t match his voice.

8. Iggy Azalea

We've all heard the song "Fancy," but have you seen the music video? Iggy dresses as Cher from the 1995 film Clueless. She may sound like Nicki Minaj, but she sure doesn't look like her. I guess blondes really do have more fun.

9. Lorde

Lorde is super talented, but sometimes I wonder if she's lying to us about her age. Born in 1996? WHAT? She looks and sounds so mature.

10. Justin Bieber

Last but not least, I had to include JBiebs. The first time I heard Justin Bieber's song on the radio, I remember saying, "Who is she? She's good." Yes, I sincerely thought he was a woman. Of course, some time has passed since “One Time” was released back in 2009, but I still think his voice is way too high, and not in the impressive and hot Justin Timberlake kinda way.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
