In a world that encourages us to be our own worst critic, we are driven to be under the assumption that we will never be good enough. It is easy to fall into this routine as society leads us to focus only on our flaws and ignore every good quality we have to offer.
It is amazing how we have become accustomed to believing who we are is what other people think we are. Living in a society that pays more attention to what’s presented on the surface leads us to neglect what is beyond skin deep, and our compliments to one another seem to be based solely on our physical appearance. Noticing each other’s hair, the color of our nails or the clothes we wear keeps us fixated on how we present ourselves, and, soon, the kindness rooted in your soul or the humor that lights your stage seems to go unnoticed.
Being dumped by a boy doesn’t make you less worthy of love, and not coming in first place doesn’t show what you’re capable of. That bad grade on your midterm doesn’t define your wisdom, and, most importantly, what someone else has to say doesn’t determine your faith.
It’s time to push past all the things that can make us feel like we’re not good enough and start paying attention to the things we can learn to love about ourselves. And, if there’s someone who isn’t capable of seeing what you’re worth, then maybe it’s because they don’t deserve to. There may be a thousand reasons to feel let down, but there will always be a million more to be thankful.
So embrace every flaw, imperfection and quirky quality you have because nothing in this world will make you happier than being surrounded by those who love you for you. It may not be apparent now, but, one day, you will look back and realize that all of the time you spent wishing to be more like something or somebody else could have been spent laughing and loving somebody who’s glad you’re not.
We may just be the most confusing creatures on the planet, but we are certainly one of the most beautiful. Women are provided with the strength to embody life, and, no matter how much shit we have to endure, we continue to kick ass and remain flawless from head to toe. I mean, no other species on the planet can overcome the idealism of perfection and manage to walk in six-inch heels like we can.
If women weren't to exist, Leonardo da Vinci would not have created the most famous painting in the world, Greece's capital wouldn't be named after the goddess of wisdom and the king wouldn’t stand a chance in winning a game of chess without the queen by his side.
In a world filled with judgment and self-doubt, remember you are somebody's definition of perfect. It doesn't matter what leads you to believe otherwise. You are the creation of infinite value. You are worth more than you could ever imagine.
