A Simple List of 50 Blissful Moments

There is a very brief moment when you first wake up. You don’t think of anything. You don’t have any memories. It is a new day, an entirely new, blank slate.

Little moments like these are often overlooked and the happiness that these moments bring us is often not recognized. We should be recognizing the small things that make our souls happy. We should start fueling our lives with very simple, pure bliss.

Here is a list of some very simple things that make us happy, even if it is subconsciously, on a daily basis.

1. Taking your work clothes off, and changing into sweatpants

2. Fresh bed sheets

3. Walking barefoot on a freshly vacuumed, fluffy carpet

4. Having the opportunity to sleep in your own bed after a night of drinking

5. When people say, “Wow! You’re so tan!”

6. Toasting your bagel to that perfect golden-brown color

7. When someone (OK, anyone) plays with your hair

8. Getting your back tickled

9. Crossing the last item off your to-do list

10. Spooning

11. Hearing the doorbell finally ring after you’ve been waiting for your pizza forever

12. Walking into Chipotle and seeing no line (very rare, but it has happened before)

13. When Panera is not out of bread bowls for once

14. Smiling through a kiss

15. When the sun finally comes out at the beach after it’s been raining all week

16. Going out to breakfast

17. Finding money in your back pocket

18. Laughing so hard that it physically hurts your stomach

19. Reading any kind of article that reminds you of the greatest years of all times: The 90’s

20. Finding any kind of object that reminds you of the greatest years of all times: The 90’s (Tamagotchi’s, HitClips, Heely’s, Furby’s, SkipIt’s…etc.)

21. Hotel beds

22. Putting on aloe & laying naked in your bed under the fan after a day at the beach

23. Outdoor showers

24. Waking up before your alarm goes off, and realizing that you can go back to sleep for a little while longer

25. Heated blankets

26. Reading through your old yearbook

27. Campfires

28. When the much-anticipated beat finally drops

29. Long conversations with old friends that leave you feeling nostalgic

30. Staying up late just so you can keep texting that person because the conversation is just too good

31. Waking up in the middle of the night so thirsty, only to look over next to you & remember that you brought up a gigantic glass of water

32. Getting an “A” on an exam you genuinely believed you were going to fail

33. When the teacher allows you to answer on the exam itself, instead of having a separate answer sheet

34. Ice cold lemonade (only because I really, really, really, want lemonade at this exact second that I’m writing this.)

35. Double spacing an essay after you type it only to notice that you just met the exact page requirements

36. Driving with the windows down and heat blasted on your feet

37. Getting so sucked into a good book that you completely forget your own reality

38. Finding a great parking spot

39. When someone else cleans all the snow off your car for you (my dad did this once and yes, it was blissful.)

40. Going out to ice cream with your family on vacation, just like the good ol’ days

41. Coffee shops

42. Hand massages (rare, but fantastic)

43. Flannels

44. That first bite into cool, soft, creamy cheesecake

45. When your handwriting looks so perfectly neat

46. When you finally finish writing out that giant stack of notecards

47. Little sun showers

48. Any kind of place that lets you eat outside & listen to acoustic live music at the same time

49. Dancing to good music with good people

50. Finding a new show to binge watch on Netflix

See simplicity in the complicated, and seek bliss in even the small things. Whatever is good for the soul, do that.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
