11 Signs You're From Delaware County, Pa.

Delaware County, Pennsylvania, is a place that many people know and love. It isn't a place to live; it is a lifestyle. Here are 11 signs you are from the beautiful Delco.

1. When you meet someone from Delco, you have an immediate bond because you probably have about 20 mutual friends.

Every single time you meet someone from Delco, the first thing that they ask is, "Oh, where did you go to high school?!" or "What parish are you from?" Then, BOOM, you ironically end up being best friends with their one good friends cousin.

2. There is a Wawa every 2 miles.

Delco people love going on their Wawa runs. The first Wawa ever built was on MacDade Blvd. in Delaware County! You can basically walk out your door and turn left or right and end up at one of them.

3. Everyone says they are gonna leave when the graduate high school, but usually end up staying and raising their families there for YEARS.

The Delco Bubble is a real thing. Everyone claims to hate it at some point, but they never end up leaving.

4. The accent.

Youse better believe we ain't kiddin when we ask for a cup of wooder. We pronounce crayon as crown, syrup as surup, and bad like bayd.

5. Your entire high school thrives during Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekend.

Wildwood is every Delco persons ideal place to be on the cold days of winter. Everyone "goes down the shore" during these weekends and the infamous Senior Week.

6. Each town has their own reputation.

Whether it be Folcroft, Upper Darby, Glenolden, or Swarthmore, every town is different in their own way.

7. Wednesday Nights in Media are the best in the summer.

"Gotta love Media's dining under the stars"!

8. The Erin Express!

Barnaby's, Casey's, Maggie O'Neals, and The Plumstead are just a few of the many bars that Delco people love during March! (and every other day of the year). It's like a mini high school reunion!

9. You grew up hanging out in the Springfield, Granite Run and MacDade Mall.

The malls were always the best place to hangout with your middle school friends. (RIP to the Granite Run mall and MacDade.)

10. You can't go into Nifty Fifty's or Applebee's without running into people that you know.

You pretty much can't go anywhere in Delaware County without running into someone.

11 . The Blue Ribbon Special.

Tom Jones. Enough said.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
