6 Signs It’s Time Shake Up Your Life And Move
Stevie Dupree-Parker

Nothing you do or feel is the same when you are fed up with the city you live in. Going to classes, traveling to work, and hanging out with friends becomes less interesting and all around boring.

If every weekend you're leaving the city just to get away, there's a chance you don't enjoy living where you currently stay and need to get out. Emotionally, you know when you are unhappy, and some changes need to made, that change could be relocation.

Here are a few signs to know if it's time to move out and move on.

1. You are feeling unfulfilled.

The biggest sign to emotionally pay attention to is feeling unfulfilled. Going to school and making good grades is great, but when that's no longer enough to keep you happy, it's important to recognize that. Going to social events, working, and doing your usual routine can become something you just do, not because you have an inkling to do them.

2. You don't find anything in your city to be fun or the slightest bit intriguing.

Hanging out with friends and going to the same stores, eateries, clubs, and bars are all getting old and they are no longer fun to go do. You need to explore other places where your interests lie. Even your friend group may not be able to cheer you up because you need a completely new change in scenery and people.

3. You are constantly daydreaming of being somewhere other than where you live.

If you daydream about your future and it is not where you are currently located, maybe you are not meant to stay where you are. Daydreams are an escape from what is going on in the present to think about something positive that calls for all your attention.

If you're hopeful for the future somewhere else, make plans to look up cities that that may look like your daydream. Maybe it's a city with tall buildings and lots of corporate offices like Dallas, TX. Get imaginative in your search for a city's lifestyle.

4. You feel trapped.

Feeling like you are stuck and have nowhere to move is not fun. You could feel trapped because you are suppressing a desire or scared to make a major change. Maybe school and work are stressful and you are worried about the future being unknown.

In cases such as this, think back to your daydreams or purposefully make an effort think about what makes you happy and where you are when you are happy. Turn your fantasies into what you want out of life and slowly try to move toward them as a goal.

5. Pros outweigh the cons.

There may be tons of opportunities available to you in another city. In your current state, you would have no idea of what is out there nor what could be offered to you.

A new city or state could give you working motivation to put towards reaching the goals you want to meet in life. In the city you are currently living in, there may be nothing holding you back, no reason why you couldn't leave because nothing good is coming from staying.

6. You are holding on to bad memories.

We don't always make the right choices, but we can learn from them. If you have done anything you regret or are dealing with something that has taken a large toll on your life, staying in the city can affect your behavior, mood, and mentality. A new scene will allow for you to start fresh and move past any troubles you may be facing where you live now.

Packing up your bags and moving to a new place can be scary, but the outcome could be something great. It is good to take risks in life, especially if you are young. Before you decide to move, make sure you do plenty of research on where you are going and what you want out of the move.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
