Some say your relationships with your parents should be strictly parent versus child, but obviously that person never had their mom as their best friend. I have zero shame in saying my mom is my best friend and my person. At times, my mom knows me and what's going on around me better than I do, which is scary sometimes. I wouldn't trade our relationship for the world.
She's your biggest cheerleader.
She's the first person you call after you nail that final you studied hours for or keeps cheering you on when you want to give up. She pushes you past those, "mom, I'm dropping out of school tomorrow" texts and tells you, you can make it through this rough patch in school or in your work setting.
She's the first person you call every chance you get.
Any time you get out of class or leave work, she's the first person you call and talk to for hours about no certain thing.
She listens to you.
When you call her and plan on just telling her about your day, but instead turns into a two hour phone call that she probably doesn't want to listen to. She listens to you talk 90 miles a minute and doesn't show that she isn't interested one bit.
You two look like alike.
If you and your mom are anything like myself and my mom are then you've probably gotten the "Are you two sisters?" line, because you look identical -- it has happened several times to us. You both have the same looks, personalities, and interests making you two identical.
She's the ultimate person to take shopping with you.
You both share the same taste in clothing, jewelry, and shoes--so why not go shopping together? It's nearly impossible to pass up a good sale. Am I right or am I right?
She gives you tough love.
Since your mom is your best friend, she kind of has to play the role of mom at some point. Whether we like it or not we all need a dose of tough love here and there no matter how much we hate it. Most of the time if she is having to give us tough love, chance are we deserve it for our own well-being.
You tell her all the gossip going on.
You two wouldn't be best friends if you didn't share all things gossip, right?
You run to her when you think your slightest bit sick.
No one ever enjoys being sick. The first thing I do when I think I'm about to be sick is automatically call my mom and she always knows what I need to do.
You share each others clothes.
What two best friends don't share clothes? It's nice being able to share and switch out clothes you within your own home, instead of going through a friends closet to share clothes.
I'm blessed to have such a great relationship with my mom not only from a mother-daughter perspective, but also from a friend standpoint. My mom is by far the most important person in my life. I love you forever, mom.
