I haven't ever had a relationship-- aside from that one two month relationship that I had my freshman year of high school. I've gone on a few first -- and one second-- dates, but nothing stuck for various reasons.
I've also accepted my fate of becoming a cat lady.
Let's be real here; cats won't lie to you, they won't make you cry. Sure, they'll use you a little bit, but only for treats. Cats are infinitely better than relationships and I'm proud to call myself a future cat lady.
With all of that said, here are a few ways to tell that you might just be a future cat lady as well. Remember; if you feel like you do a lot of these things, it's perfectly okay to embrace your cat lady fate. People will question your obsession with cats at first, but soon enough they'll come to expect it.
1. Your cat's face is your screensaver on every electronic device, and you use it as a conversation starter.
"Hi! This is my cat, Mittens! See his paws? They're white while the rest of his fur is gray. That's why we named him mittens. Isn't that cute? Wait, why are you walking away? I need to tell you about this cute thing that mittens did yesterday."
2. You look at your social media accounts and see that all you share are cat videos and photos of your own cat.
Whoops. Why do people even follow me at this point?
3. If you go on a date on somebody and they mention that they don't like cats, it's an automatic deal breaker.
Sorry, buddy. I don't need that type of negativity in my life.
4. You have a whole board on Pinterest dedicated to photos of cats.
... Guilty...
5. Your family can't take you near the cats in Petsmart because they're afraid that you'll ask the salesperson if you can adopt all of them.
Not to mention that you'll be there at least an hour playing with the little rascals.
6. You begin making a list of names for all of your future cats.
Catsby, Katniss, Stitch, and Quentin are just a few of the names on my list. I don't have a problem.
7. Your friends and family refer to you as a cat whisperer, and that title makes you feel incredibly proud.
It's what you've been working towards for years. The cats in your life understand and listen to you. (Sometimes.)
8. You look online at cat merchandise and wonder how much your roommates would hate you if you decked out the apartment with cute little cat knick-knacks.
I mean, you live with fellow cat lovers because great minds think alike, but how far is too far?
9. Finally, this particular quote is an accurate description of your life.
Because let's face it-- pets are a huge financial responsibility and you need to be sure that you can take care of them the best that you can.
