School is finally out for (almost) everyone and the weather has caught up to us. That means one thing: SUMMER! Summer has a different meaning for each of us. Each year, our definition changes a little bit, but one thing is for sure: summer is kinda the best.
Yes, summer is finally here. How do I know? Well, there are a few clear signs.
1. Waking up to the smell of fresh-cut grass
Nothing says summer like waking up (at a decent time) with the windows open and the smell of fresh-cut grass coming in. Seriously though. No more 7:45 means sleeping in 'till like 10.
2. Putting on that cute outfit
Sure, winter outfits can be cute, but it's not like you actually see them with all the hats, scarves and coats on. But in the summer you can put on cute shorts, a top, candles and let it flaunt. And dresses. You can wear a dress and not get frostbit.
3. The Olympics
Confession: I'm a huge olympics nerd. Of course my favorite is swimming, but I love it all: diving, tennis, gymnastics, track... And don't even get me started on the winter olympics. I've been counting down for four year and now it's almost here. The commercials alone are getting me giddy.
4. Long walks with the dogs
Some people are fond of long walks on the beach. I happen to be fond of long walks with dogs. All I have to do is put my shoes on, and the dogs know it's W-A-L-K time. We're a staple of the neighborhood in the afternoons. All I need is my pups.
5. Bonfires
Food + Friends + Fire = Best summer ever. Give it a try. Light up that pile of grass and wood, invite some friends over, and eat some great food. It'll make your summer all sorts of better.
6. Summer TV
It's finally time to catch up on all the shows I've missed the past year while I was studying. Plus all the new ones. The Bachelorette (Go Derek) and of course HGTV. Bring on the Property Brothers (aka my husbands if you ask my mother).
7. Swimming
We all know someone with a pool and we all love to spend time at said pool. Take a dip with a drink then lay out and get your tan on. You didn't buy that cute bathing suit for nothing.
8. Summer reading
The books you actually want to readhave been piling up all school year and now is the time to kick back and enjoy some great reads. (Hit me up if you need suggestions).
9. Tourists
Basically no matter where you live, you deal with tourists. The big city folk want to see the small-town life and the small-town people want to see big city life. Sure, you love to brag about your hometown; but you kinda wish they would stay out of your way.
We only have less than 3 months, so wake up and start the summer.
