Every small town has it's little quirks or memories, but Milford, Nebraska has the best. No matter if you were born and raise in this place, or if you only lived there for a few short years, there are 17 thing that prove you're from Milford, Nebraska.

1. You probably got at least one vehicle from Rediger's.

If not, you strongly considered that one white car in the back of the lot...until someone bought it.

2. You could smell the Feedlot.

If the wind was blowing just right, you would have manure filled nostrils all day long.

3. If you wanted fun, you drove to Lincoln.

Nothing like driving 30 minutes to get to the nearest mall.

4. There are only a few places to work.

You either worked at SCC, Dairy Queen, Subway or one of the nursing homes. Maybe all four.

5. You have plenty of churches to choose from.

Isn't there like...30 of them now?

6. South Park was not just a TV show.

You might have gone there to meet up with your crush in junior high.

7. You went to Milford High School.

Mostly because there wasn't anywhere else to go. Go Eagles!

8. Everyone knew you, even if you didn't know them.

Thanks, parents.

9. Everyone also knew all of your drama.

Secrets were not safe.

10. You could never lie to the cops.

I mean you could, but they might just ask your parents the next day anyway.

11. If you were planning to "sit and dine," you went to Pizza Kitchen.

The classiest place in town has a buffet.

12. You couldn't go a day without someone revving their supped-up pickup truck.

It was like a battle between the high school boys and the SCC boys.

13. Four o'clock traffic was the worst.

This was when classes were done for both the high school and the community college. Good luck!

14. You either knew, were related to, or are a Roth or a Troyer.

There were at least two of each in all of the high school classes, too.

15. Milford Fun Days meant the official end of summer.

Forget that classes just started two days prior, Fun Days is the end.

16. There was no such thing as "bad food" at local potlucks.

It seemed like every person and their grandma was incapable of make anything that tasted bad. I guess the Mennonite heritage is to thank for that.

17. You can't have "Milford" without The Mill.

Seriously, it's where the name of the town came from.

Milford may seem like most other small Nebraska towns, but we're better.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
