What My Little Sister Taught Me

When you find out that you are going to have a sibling at 2 years old, it is exciting and terrifying. It's the best thing because you can finally boss your younger sibling around, yet it's terrifying because now you are a role model to your brother or sister. In my case, my little sister was the greatest thing ever to happen to me. She has taught me a lot throughout the years, and I am incredibly thankful to have her in my life.

Thank you for being my first best friend. You are my best friend no matter what we go through, whether it be a tiny argument or a huge blow out.

Thank you for keeping all my secrets from mom, no matter how bad it is or how mad you are at me.

Thank you for making me more responsible.

Thank you for always answering my calls, and being that pick-me-up when I'm feeling down.

Thank you for making impulsive decisions with me, even if they are poor life choices. I can count on you to make them with me.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a role model to you. I may have always been the annoying know-it-all, but I didn’t want you to make the same mistakes I made.

Thank you for being the one who is always down to go eat (even though we probably just ate 15 minutes ago). I love that you possess the same love for eating I do, and can finish an entire three-course meal by yourself .

Thank you for teaching me what being an amazing big sister is like. I never wanted to let you down, and you constantly tell me how great I am.

Most importantly, thank you for being an amazing little sister. I couldn’t have asked for a better sibling. You make me so incredibly proud to be your big sister, even though you drive me crazy.

You may be the biggest pain in the butt sometimes, but I would never trade you for anything. You are the biggest blessing in my life, and I am so incredibly proud of you for everything you accomplish.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
