We are our own worst enemies. We tell ourselves constantly that we aren't good enough, smart enough, attractive enough, or equipped enough to do the things that call to us.
We have the goals. We have the dreams. We usually even have the drive---But what we're missing is the confidence.
It seems that the bigger the opportunity we have, the louder the voice is inside of us telling us we can't.
But we can. So, tell that voice, YOUR voice, SHUT UP.
The older I get the more I realize just how warped my own, and almost all of my friends views on self confidence actually are. We believe OTHERS are worthy and great, but when it comes to ourselves we have the hardest time believing it.
We know all the right words to say, but we don't have the heart to accept them for ourselves.
I'm not sure when we all thought that we had the right to start viewing ourselves as less than what God sees us as.
Maybe it was the first time we felt we had truly failed him. Maybe it was when we had our heart broken, or another broken person told us we weren't good enough. But no matter how we got here, we did, and it's time for us shut it down before it's too late.
Think of all the opportunities you've already missed only because you're afraid you'll fail. Imagine how much more full and breath taking your life would be if you stopped assessing your skills based on what you see with your own eyes, and instead stepped into the freedom and love that our loving Father uses to see us.
HIS hands created and molded us and that means we are equipped for so much.
BELIEVE that He has made you great and tell everything inside of you that is screaming for you to play it safe and accept an average life to SHUT UP.
Tell those negative and self-deprecating words that they hold no power over you and that you were made for greatness. You DESERVE greatness---no, not because you've earned it, but because we have a Savior who earned it for us.
How dare we, the mere clumps of clay and pots of our Heavenly Father, tell Him that the dreams and desires He has placed inside of us are just too great and not the right fit for us.
Dream BIG. Follow your passions and the calling you feel on your heart regardless of what your voice, or anyone except your Father's voice says.
Your God says:
"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." -Ephesians 2:10
I don't know about you, but those words are far sweeter than anything my own mind comes up with about myself. How different, how freeing would our lives be if we listened to THIS voice instead of the voice telling us we can't.
