What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of love? You might think of happily ever after. You might think of your family and everything they have done for you. You might even think of the unconditional love Jesus has shown to the world. This is the kind of love I am talking about.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
God is love. His love is more than we cold ever imagine. God's love is relentless, unconditional, and devoted. God's love is everything. God's love is perfect.
1 John 4:8 "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."
God intends for his love to be shown to everyone. God loves every person no matter who they are or what they have done. Jesus loves everyone no matter what they are doing, have done, or are going to do. God's love should be shown through every part of what we do. Love should be shown to everyone.
Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you."
God's love is full of truth. God tells each person so many truths in love. These are truths we can rejoice in and be thankful for. These are truths we can rest in when we are struggling . We can rest in the truth of God's unfailing love. Let go of your struggle and let God begin to consume you. Begin to pursue God because he has been pursuing you from the time he created you. Love because God is love. Live in God's love through your whole day every day.
Romans 13:8 "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law."
Love is believed to be the greatest fruit of the spirit. Joy, peace, patiences, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control all stem from love. When we as people receive God's love and decide we want to show it to others we will begin to reflect these other characteristics. For example; when we love we will become more patient with people. First we must receive God's love before we are able to properly love others. The more we let God's love soak in the more our love will produce fruit. All love stems from the perfect love that God has shown to us. If we have received God's love and love him back we will want to love people.
Mark 12:30-31 "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and and with all your mind and all your strength.'The second commandment is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.'"
Even when love is not reciprocated back to us, we should still continue to love others. This is what God has called us to do. I am devoted and committed to loving others with the same love God has shown to me.
1 John 4:19 "We love because he first loved us."
