A Shout Out To 'Old School' Disney Channel

Dear Disney Channel during the 2000's,

Honestly, where do I even start? You filled my mornings, afternoons and nights with the utmost joy and laughter. From your animated series, to your "live action" series, to your little short series and obviously your "Disney Channel Original Movies," they were all such great work.

I'd like to start off with your animated series ... "The Proud Family," "Kim Possible," "Phineas and Ferb," and the list goes on. We all remember "The Proud Family" show with Suga Mama and the movie with the little peanut people. Often, to this day, we still compare funny looking objects to their little tiny bodies and big heads. And none of us can forget when Kim and Ron finally confessed their love for one another and kissed after what seemed like forever. And, even though "Phineas and Ferb" came a little later on, it's almost guaranteed that we all know all the lyrics to the theme song ..."there's 104 of summer vacation ..."

Next, thank you for providing such uplifting and relatable live action series as well. Shows like "Lizzie McGuire," "That's So Raven," "Hannah Montana" were among everyone's favorites. "Lizzie McGuire" was earlier on and had the coolest opening credits and relatable "inner conscious" character ever. Everyone's favorite episode had to be the Christmas special with Aaron Carter and once she got older, she had her own amazing movie, which will be mentioned later on, don't worry. "That's So Raven" was probably the funniest Disney Channel show of that time based purely on the faces that Raven would make when things wouldn't go her way. Also, she had the best catch phrases ever,"OH SNAP!" and "YA NASTY!" were a part of everyone's language for days after watching Raven. Lastly, "Hannah Montana." Thank you so much for the coolest show ever made. Okay, I may be slightly over exaggerating but still, Miley, Lily and Oliver made everyone jealous of their awesome friendship and extravagant adventures. "Hannah Montana" also got her own movie which will be discussed later and I'm almost positive every girl in her preteens went to see it in the theaters.

OMG! Who else remembers those awesome short series like "As The Bell Rings" and "Mike's Super Short Show?" Those 5 minutes in "As Bell Rings" were so eventful and you still have no idea how you got so attached to the characters in that short period of time. And I'm pretty sure everyone always tried to get that little hand motion down that would happen at the end of "Mike's Super Short Show" and once you finally figured it out, it was an automatic instinct whenever you would hear the jingle.

Lastly, your original movies were your most quality work, Disney. As I had mentioned before, "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" and "The Hannah Montana Movie" were the perfect "cherries" on top of the best shows ever. "The Climb" and "Hey Now (What Dreams Are Made Of)" are still a part of everyone's "Throwback Jams" playlists. Those songs were also accompanied by all of the hits from all three "High School Musical" and "Cheetah Girls" movies, two other amazing Original Movie mega hit trilogies. And who could forget the "Zenon" series and that ultimate jam of "Supernova Girl?" And the awesome "Halloweentown" movies? All such awesome memories.

So, thank you Disney Channel, circa the 2000's, for creating such awesome film pieces and making for some of the best memories of every 90's baby's childhood.

Sincerely,

Everyone

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
