At age 20 my friend had her first, but not last, bachelorette party. It all started when Katie was choosing what to wear to dinner. She was modeling a few dresses for us but as soon as she put on the tiny slimming white dress it was all over. Her face was glowing and she looked as if she wasn’t just going out for a typical dinner with the girls. Katie had fire in her eyes that night and everyone knew it. In a matter of five minutes we decided we were going to make the night Katie's fake bachelorette party.
There are not many friend groups that I believe could pull this off quite like we did. We were in the bathroom for hours getting ready and trying to construct a toilet paper veil. We also needed to make it believable when people asked so we picked out the venue and date. We also needed pictures for memories and proof so we casually had a photo shoot with the bride to be. We clearly wanted the whole world to know it was Katie’s night.
Stepping out of the hotel room I honestly had butterflies as if my friend was truly getting married in the weeks to come. Katie walked through the casino and down the board walk with toilet paper in her hair as people were screaming “congrats” and a few other things I probably shouldn't mention. I couldn’t begin to explain the thrill of watching heads turn, we felt like we were on a reality TV show. Coming back after a great night, we rode the elevator up with a random man who even said himself we were the coolest bachelorette party he has seen all night. This of course was the icing on the cake.
The next morning we all woke up with texts from people in our high school, some whom we haven’t even spoken to since graduation. Questions such as, “who is she marrying?” “I didn’t even know she was engaged?!!?” “OMG Kaths getting married!!!!” and many more. Us being the friend group we are went along with it for quite some time and by "some time" I’m talking two or so months.
Basically what I'm trying to say is, if your friend is in-between that little black dress or the super cute white one, ALWAYS go with the white one and ALWAYS have a fake bachelorette party. You absolutely won’t regret it. Plus, why have one bachelorette party when you can have two?!
