Should We Expect A "Philexit" Soon?!

Survey says....

Should We Expect A "Philexit" Soon?!
Huffington Post

BREAKING NEWS– According to a recent poll, Pennsylvanians would support a "Philexit," or Philadelphia and Southeast PA seceding from the commonwealth. Why was this proposed? Who the hell knows, to be honest. But as a Philadelphian, I personally think we would thrive under a lack of accountability.

Here is a graph put together by Harper Polling, showing the results of their survey:

The interesting part is, this is not the first time that Philadelphians have supported a breakup. In November of 2012, there was a petition going around amongst Philadelphians to secede from the United States as a whole. Political analysts say that this petition would never work, as it was made up of mostly "sore losers" who were disgruntled at President Obama's reelection. Clearly the analysts were correct, since Philadelphia remains a part of the Union.

In July of 2013, an article on PhillyMag gained traction amongst Philadelphians; the piece once again supports a Philexit. Instead of frustrations with the government, however, this article expresses the economic support the City of Brotherly Love gives to the rest of the state, and outlines the burden the rest of PA is upon Philadelphia. With 31% of all Pennsylvanians residing in Greater Philadelphia, a secession would not be the most outrageous idea. Believe it or not, this 31% of the state's population creates 37% of the state's tax revenue.

For some Philadelphians, the rest of the state is quite literally an economic burden. Not to mention the contempt that the rest of Pennsylvania seems to have for Philadelphians. As a matter of fact, the entire country seems to have a general scowl on their face whenever Philly is mentioned. In this article, Philly is named the #1 angriest city in America, while this website was having an ugliest accent competition in which Philly was favored to win.

When you google "I hate Philadelphia," you get 24 million (24,000,000) results.

So, yeah. Everyone hates us. But that's okay, because we've never really been too fond of others either. In the past we've snowballed Santa, stolen prosthetic legs, and are notorious for our aggressive driving when we're not in our hometown.

If everyone hates us so much, then why are we still here? Would a Philexit, as it were, be so wrong? Let us know what you think by commenting below or sharing on your social media.

Either way, we all know that the City of Brotherly Love always has been, and always will be the best city in the great old U.S. of A.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
