A Short Guide On How To Make Memes

I am here with a guide to instruct you on a essential millennial life skill; How to make memes. Some people love memes and break them out like sick beats on their new hot fire mixtape. Some people detest memes to the point where they wish for people who use them to catch on fire. This guide may not help you generate memes that become the the next viral ones, but the ones produced will at least be amusing to you and maybe some friends.

1. Find something that has meaning to you

There's no point in having something bouncing back and forth in conversations if they have no meaning. Choose an object or saying that represents your happiness, sarcasm, irony, or other emotions.

2. Get a friend

Having a friend is recommended. If you don't have a friend, you can talk to yourself in the mirror. If you don't want to appear odd in public or at home, possibly consider mentally talking to yourself instead. The purpose of this step is to have another being to ricochet the meme on.

3. Create a memorable phrase or hashtag

The saying shouldn't be too long nor too short. You might not remember how to spell something like “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”. On the flip side, you might mistake short sayings for typos. For example, I could coin the term “ah” to stand for “all happy”. I would then say “Ah. I’m ah.” The two letters read more like a strange pause or moan rather than the intended term.

4. Use your meme as much as possible

My current flatmate is annoyed to the ends of the Earth with me whenever I whip out a meme from our general psychology class. (I basically turned most of the course’s content into memes during spring semester in order to study.) I can’t recall most of them now, but one main one was “block my adenosine receptors”. A buildup of adenosine causes us to feel tired. By blocking the receptors with substances, such as caffeine, we can delay the feeling of fatigue. I originally used this phrase during finals week when I was sleep deprived but needed more time to study. Eventually my flatmate started using the phrase as well. Now we both use it for any situation in which we’re tired but have other things that we need to do.

5. Create alternative representations of your meme

This step is more or less optional. Creating your meme in a multitude of forms releases it from being pixelated letters on various screen. You could make a picture, video, or mixtape to accompany it. I have a mixtape track list of my biology related memes, but it’s not yet ready for the public.

Now, go forth into the world and spread smiles or cringes.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
