In this day in age, becoming a shopaholic is completely understandable. From credit cards to online shopping, it has become incredibly easy for the average consumer to make quick purchases without feeling horribly guilty about it. It is so easy to shop that sometimes people don't even realize that they've made a purchase! The product just kind of ends up being bought, and ends up being folded in your closet. Now, you may be wondering what qualifies someone as a shopaholic? Or, what are some signs that someone has reached the point of being a shopaholic? Well, I have a few traits laid out just for you!
1. When they have a moment of free time they browse online shops, or worse, they have online shops as their 'Favorites' on their laptop.
2. They are physically and emotionally incapable of the torturous act known as window shopping.
3. They have multiple credit and debit cards.
4. Every morning their email is full of notifications from stores and their newest deals.
5. They have run out of space in their closet and had to create new space -- multiple times.
6. You know they have a clothing item you can you can borrow for any and every occasion.
7. Pay-day is Christmas for them.
But not in the normal way that it is for every other human being, but in a way that excites them in their bones because they can make a new purchase.
8. It doesn't matter what store you go to, they will find something that is worthy of taking home -- always.
9. They know the employees or their favorite store(s) and the employees know them.
10. They know when the stores get new a new shipment of clothes and when they change the clothing on display.
11. They keep a list of everyone's birthdays so they can look forward to buying them gifts.
12. If something gets them down, it only takes a little retail therapy to get them up and running again.
If you, or anyone you know, shows any or some of these traits the first step to recovery is acceptance. Encourage yourself, or your fellow shopaholic, to accept that they are an addict by first reading and sharing this article.
