Entering into a new season, this year's Cleveland Browns team is currently facing a tremendous amount of hype. With Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr., and other incredibly talented players on the team, they're expected to make it pretty far this season, with some fans even discussing the possibility of winning the Super Bowl.
While many sports fans are focused on the stars of the team, and understandably so, there's one player that many don't know about yet: Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi. Sheehy-Guiseppi is a potential kick returner and wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns, and he deserves some attention, too.
Only a few months ago, Sheehy-Guiseppi was in search of a home, his next meal, and a career. In an attempt to make it big, he decided to attend a Brown's workout in hopes of getting a shot to make the team. He wasn't supposed to be there, but he worked his way into staying and quickly caught the eye of some Browns personnel with his 4.38 sec 40-yard dash time. He was then asked to return for tryouts.
With a week until the tryout, Sheehy-Guiseppi decided to spend his last $200 on training and sleep outside of a 24-hr fitness center so that he could prepare for his shot at the NFL. His perseverance paid off, and he was signed by the Browns in April. He then made his debut in the Browns' first preseason game four months later, where late in the fourth quarter, Sheehy-Guiseppi ran a punt return for 86 yards into the endzone for his first touchdown as an NFL player.
It was incredible to watch, and his story makes the drive even more special. And although there's the possibility that Sheehy-Guiseppi could get cut from the 53-man roster at the end of the preseason, he's already starting to win the hearts of many sports fans. So, with all the hype surrounding the Browns this season, we should make sure that we give a little bit of that attention to Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi, too.
