All she wanted was to dance.
Not the hungry stares as she swayed to the beat
Their eyes are what scared me the most
Devouring her with just one glance.
I met his eye and fear rose in me.
My stomach rolled
I pulled her arm and shouted her name.
She whirled around, but he was already stalking off, head down.
But she knew
She was suddenly ashamed
No longer wanting to do what she loved because all they see is her body, and not her soul she bares as she dances.
All she wanted was to dance
But they took that away too
