Hello, March. there are only two months left until I graduate and the stress is getting real. Between balancing school, a part-time job, two internships and my hobbies (blogging, photography etc.), I’m always looking for new and more natural ways to cope with stress. Below are few helpful ways to manage it.
1. Tackle each task one at a time.
This is extremely important to follow in my case, where I tend to overwhelm myself with too many due dates. I label each due date on my planner’s calendar and after tackling assignments one by one, I check off the box. This allows me to feel accomplished after checking each off.
2. Call a friend.
I like phone calls much better than text messages because they are more personal and calm me in stressful times. I enjoying talking about topics that give me a good laugh with friends, while at the same time catch up with each other.
3. Book a spa appointment/do a mask!
I finally booked my first appointment for a facial and massage this weekend. A “treat yourself” day benefits you because it helps relieve stress. It can be expensive to go once a week, but I also recommend doing a sheet mask weekly. Your skin will thank you! It gives the best hydration and luminosity when the skin is feeling dull. I like purchasing sheet masks from Korean brands like Tony Moly, The Face Shop, Nature Republic, etc. They are around $2 to $5 each and amazing.
4. Aromatology.
It is defined as the use of essential oils to sustain physical, mental and spiritual health in inhalation, massages or baths. I like using lavender essential oil to massage my temples before I go to sleep, then rub a few drops on my pillow. I find it calming and easier to fall asleep to the relaxing scent.
5. Switch up your work station.
My bedroom desk is my usual work place but I find myself more productive if I switch it up and bring my laptop to the living room. Changing work environment can shift your focus back to your work and cause fewer distractions.
6. Eat a solid breakfast.
I can't start the day without breakfast, even if I choose to sleep in on a Sunday until lunch time. My usual breakfast is a bagel, two fried eggs and coconut water or a homemade smoothie.
7. Get ready with your favorite playlist.
Every morning when I start my beauty and dressing routine, I put up my Spotify playlist. I’m immediately energized when I hear my favorite artists/songs and ready to start the day.
