Seven Signs You're a "Chill" Girl

Mellow, carefree, laid-back. We can all picture a girl that lives out these words without seeming to realize it. Whether she lives on your floor, sits behind you in Anthropology or is a member of your sorority, the adjective you would use to describe her is simply "chill." Everyone knows the girl I'm talking about ... apparently. If you can't picture her, there's a good chance that she is you.

1. The Anti-Craft

"Wait, paddle reveal is tomorrow?" If you uttered these words in the last few months, that is a tell-all sign that this article is for you. You love to embrace your creative side, it just happens to be in a way that doesn't include rhinestones in the shape of a Lilly Pulitzer print. Hopefully, your Big gets that, and she loved the "abstract" wooden gifts that you gave her during appreciation week. To your future Little: sorry.

2. "You look so cute! Where are you going?"

You are asked this question while wearing absolutely anything other than a big t-shirt and running shorts during daylight hours. The jeans and converse combo is enough to make people think you are attending a gala.

3. South-what?

The notion of pumping away on an elliptical in an air-conditioned room* for 45 minutes while staring at a screen that reports each calorie burned is just confusing to you. You would much rather pop in your headphones and go for a run around campus, breathing fresh air and maybe even seeing a tree or two.

*You find the gym to be a perfectly suitable environment when your favorite instructor is teaching Power Yoga.

4. "But you don't seem like a sorority girl?"

...Thank you? You really don't know how to respond to this question that your well-intentioned friends back home asked over break. Luckily, you know you've found some awesome friends and incredible opportunities you wouldn't have found without becoming a ~sister~.

5. You're my boy, Blue

That being said, you still happen to have more friends that are guys than girls. Not because girls are "soooo much drama," but really because you're kind of a sarcastic ah*le, and sometimes guys tend to get that more than some girls.

6. "We didn't think you would mind!"

You are often left out of making plans when you go out with friends because you're usually cool with what they decide anyways. Although you're known to go with the flow, sometimes it's nice to be asked ... even though your answer will probably be something along the lines of "I'm down for whatever!"

7. J-Law to Yoncé

I think this is the biggest misconception of the "chill" girl; although we may be happy-go-lucky, there's no stopping us when it comes to achieving our academic, personal or career goals. The chill factor can be transformed into fierce determination when it comes to making important things happen for ourselves.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
