1. The Greek life groupie.
We all know that if you are part of Greek life, you are automatically 200 friends richer (or however big your chapter is). Unfortunately, it is impossible to be besties with every single one of them. The Greek life groupie is that person you will always smile and wave to on campus, but probably will never interact with outside of Greek activities.
2. The Friday night friend.
Sometimes in the stressful world of college you just need a night off. The Friday night friend is the first person you think of when you are overwhelmed with stress, schoolwork, drama, or a combination of the three. This person is the life of the party, is always up for a good time, and never says no to a night of drinking, dancing and debauchery.
3. The long-lost dorm buddy.
Students who come into freshman year living in the dorms are searching for their niche and many find their first friends within their dorm building. You may spend a majority of your time with these people due to convenience, but eventually the first year ends and you go your separate ways. Whenever you see this person again, you embrace in excitement and promise to hang out soon, but probably never do.
4. The club comrade.
When you are involved in organizations outside of Greek life, chances are none of your regular friend group participates with you. This is where you make your club comrades: people you sit and chit chat with at meetings, text about deadlines, and thoroughly enjoy seeing, but who don't cross over to other areas of your social life.
5. Your first friend from freshman year who you completely forgot about.
Chances are, you made your very first friend at freshman orientation and latched on to them for that weekend because you literally knew no one else. Although, after the excitement of starting college fades, you fall into a routine and begin your own path, and now that first friend remains as only a distant memory.
6. The “big sis".
Your big sis (or big bro) is the one person you look up to the most of any of your college friends. You admire this person because they have their sh*t together and always give the best advice when you are in a pickle. They are someone you can go to day or night and they will be there for you no matter what. Your college life would be so much more chaotic without them.
7. Your soul mate.
Some of us are lucky enough to find our soul mate in college. Now this is not the person you are going to marry and live happily ever after with; this person is the peanut butter to your jelly, the shake to your bake, the ketchup to your French fries, the best to your friend. You never get sick of them because you get along so well; in fact, they probably know you better than you know yourself. The adventures you will have in college with your best friend are endless and don't stop after you graduate. You soul mate is you friend for life.
